The prosthesis components

Your prosthesis usually has a modular structure. It consists of a

prosthetic foot
adapter and connecting elements
prosthetic knee joint
prosthetic socket
prosthetic liner

Adapters and connecting elements

Adapters and connecting elements join the various prosthesis components to each other. Various adapters provide even more freedom of movement.

Foot

The prosthetic foot is the basis of any leg prosthesis. It has a major influence on safe and comfortable standing while its behaviour at heel strike, during rollover and toe-off in turn influence the entire movement pattern while walking. Your prosthetist will advise you to ensure that the prosthetic foot matches the overall prosthesis system and therefore meets your individual needs.

Liner

The liner is a close-fitting stocking which ensures a reliable connection between the prosthetic socket and the residual limb.

No single liner is appropriate for everyone, because residual limb characteristics differ considerably from one user to the next. That’s why we offer liners made of different materials and with various characteristics for your customised fitting.

Prosthetic socket

The prosthetic socket is the interface between the body and the prosthetic components below it. It is a very sensitive element, since it has a significant influence on wearer comfort with a prosthesis. This is why it is always individually fabricated just for you.

Knee Joint

The natural human gait is divided into two phases: the swing phase, when the leg swings forward and the stance phase, when the leg is standing on the ground. Combining these phases and translating them into fluent movements with the help of an artificial joint makes it clear that the requirements for a prosthetic knee joint are highly specialised and extremely complex. Your prosthetist will provide you with detailed information on the possibilities for your fitting in the course of extensive consultations.
